JCCA COMPASS PROJECT PROGRAMS at the Mid Island Y JCC in Plainview
Career Testing and Summer Internship Program
One of the primary goals of the Compass Project is to help individuals identify, understand and plan for a career and educational direction. Career assessments help each individual develop a greater self-awareness of interests, abilities, values, and personality preferences. It also helps individuals discover themselves, potential career options and educational paths to explore based on the information gathered from the assessments.
Internships, the majority of which take place over the summer months, provide an opportunity for individuals to gain hands on experience in the field of his or her interest. After developing a greater understanding of a client’s career and educational options, Compass staff works with each person to find a unique internship placement. Includes weekly meetings and work stipend. Summer recreation opportunities are also available for interns.
