Psychological Testing Services

A projective test is a personality test designed to let a person respond to ambiguous stimuli, revealing hidden emotions and internal conflicts. The ambiguity of the stimuli presented within the tests allow subjects to experess their inner thoughts and feelings. Projective tests include the Rorschach, better known as the ‘ink-blot test,’ the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), in which the subject tells stories about pictures, the Sentence Completion test, Draw-A-Person, and House-Tree-Person. These tests can all provide information about important themes in a person's life or the content of their thinking.

The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale or WAIS is a general test of intelligence (IQ), a battery of tests that is composed from subtests that measure the global capacity of a person to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with his/her environment. The WAIS gives a global IQ and also two separate IQ’s for the two scales: verbal and performance. There are 6 verbal subscales and 5 performance subscales. The two scales can be used separately to see if a person has particular strengths or weaknesses.

The Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales sets the standard for measuring personal and social skills used for everyday living. This assessment provides critical data for the diagnosis or evaluation of a wide range of disabilities, including mental retardation, developmental delays, functional skills impairment, and speech/language impairment. Vineland has also been proven to be an accurate resource for predicting autism and Asperger syndrome, among other differential diagnoses.
