National Nurses Week started on Thursday, May 6. While it might seem like an unconventional schedule for commemoration, it’s quite relatable for medical professionals who know that important work happens 24 hours a day, seven days a week!
JCCA’s nursing team has always been one of the backbones of our comprehensive and impressive array of services. JCCA’s Westchester Campus operates two medical clinics for the young people in our residential programs, and nursing teams in Brooklyn and the Bronx provide medical care for the foster youth in our community programs. But the COVID-19 pandemic has brought the importance of our talented nurses into the spotlight. Relentlessly upbeat, JCCA’s nursing team calmed the anxieties of children and parents alike, donned PPE to care for young people in quarantine, and implemented new protocols with flexibility and grace. Through all of this, they continued their commitment to the health and well-being of all our clients, many of whom have complex medical conditions.
During Nurses Week, we salute the expertise, compassion, and positivity of our amazing nurses, but we are grateful every day for their inspiring dedication to the children and families at JCCA.
