Residential Practice in COVID

Human Resources

Onboarding New Staff

Throughout this pandemic, hiring should continue as per agency protocols and staffing needs; however, recruitment will take place via virtual means and resources. Recruiting should continue with any current online platforms being used and interviews should be conducted using an online resource that an applicant has access to and is comfortable with. This may include any video-conferencing site or application such as: Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp, etc.

Applicants should not be discriminated against due to their access to remote technology. Human Resources should offer assistance with arranging use of an online platform if needed, or may arrange for an on-site interview as appropriate.  If several positions are open, Human Resource teams may consider holding virtual job fairs. Online platforms such as Zoom have the ability to coordinate numerous managers going into various online rooms to interview candidates. Once hired, routine staff orientation and onboarding should be conducted remotely if possible. Staff orientation may be held live through recorded videos or other electronic means. Mandatory government or agency certifications or trainings that require signature may utilize scanning or e-signature options.
